Today feels like a Monday. With New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day falling on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, it’s hard to know what day it is. Part of me likes that “whatever” feeling of doing what I feel like when I feel like it. And part of me is eager to get started on the newness of 2025.
Whatever you’re feeling, thank you for being a Two Minutes Du Jour reader. I wish you the happiest of new years and all the joy and growth from exploration and discovery.
Popular New Year Resolutions
According to Forbes.com Health/One Poll, the top 10 most common New Year resolutions for 2024 were:
- Improve fitness
- Improve finances
- Improve mental health
- Lose weight
- Improve diet
- Make more time for loved ones
- Stop smoking
- Learn a new skill
- Make more time for hobbies
- Improve work-life balance
Were any of these on your list? Did you make progress toward or accomplish them? Notice that improve and make more time are prevalent in eight of the 10 resolutions and that the other two involve the words stop and learn.
Looking back allows us to look at the now and think forward. This allows us to be intentional with the words we choose to empower our mindset regarding resolutions and goals.
