Greetings!
I’m the first one awake this morning and am enjoying the quiet before Duke comes downstairs. After several overcast and windy days, the forecast calls for sunny conditions and temps in the upper 40s – the prefect day for a book walk and talk with a few friends. I’m eager for our conversation about Braiding Sweetgrass.
Last night, my husband and I attended a birthday party for one of my work friends. It included decades-themed trivia game – we did pretty well on the questions for the ’60s and ’70s but realized we were busy with careers in the ’80s and raising children in the ’90s and ’00s.
There was also a ping-pong tournament, and muscle memory served us well. We both made it to the semi-finals and could have played each other in the finals. Alas, I lost to the birthday boy, and my husband lost to the guy who ultimately won.
Although we didn’t know anyone other than the hosts, it was one of those gatherings where the conversation flowed, and before we knew it, it was close to midnight. And that is why I am surprised to be the first one awake!
Catch up on posts and links from this past week:
Bring the Outdoors In with Seasonal Finds from Nature – I’m continuing to add branches to my outdoor collections, and as my indoor gourds start to get soft, I’m adding them to the displays on my porch. Perhaps I’ll find a few more of nature’s gifts on today’s walk.
Praise for Friends who Land New Jobs – One detail I forgot to include in this post is my friend recently turned 61, which I think makes her success all the more worthy of celebration. It’s never too late to create new chapters in our lives.
Follow-ups for Friday – Check out additional links on earlier topics, including food trends, advent calendars and the concept of reciprocity.
Many thanks for sharing this quest to explore and enrich our lives through daily discoveries all in just two minutes du jour. I hope you have a lovely Sunday and have plenty to look forward to in the week ahead.
Rose
