There’s a chill in the October air – just 38 degrees here in the Twin Cities area. This shift in the weather makes me all the more grateful for a warm, comfortable home where I can tend to work meetings via Zoom and venture out later in the day when things warm up a bit.
The relationship between our homes and our lives is a dynamic one. Sometimes our homes reflect who we are, and other times they shape the way we live. The magic happens when the two are in harmony, creating a space where we feel at peace, energized, and inspired.
Heading into the weekend always inspires me to think about nesting – the act of creating a comfortable space and caring for my home, and in doing so it prompts me to think about the possibilities.
Are there colors and textures that speak to you? Would you like to pare back on accumulated items or highlight favorite ones in new ways?
Nesting is an opportunity to create a space that not only reflects where you’ve been, but also where you want to go. Honor what works, keep what’s meaningful, and introduce fresh, new ideas that can inspire growth and comfort. Most importantly, give yourself time—there’s no need to rush. Just like life, a home evolves and takes shape over time.
Start with one small adjustment this weekend, and notice how it feels. After all, when our homes and lives are aligned, we create a foundation for a more intentional and fulfilling life.
If this inspires you, consider whether a more comprehensive remodel is in the cards. In many cities, there are Parade of Homes and Artisan Home Tours where you can see the latest trends in home building, remodeling and interior design. These offer a fresh source of ideas as you think about your own space and how it reflects your life.
