What is it about fresh air that invigorates us? Here in the U.S., it’s Labor Day – a Monday that doesn’t feel like a Monday, a wrap from summer that takes us into fall, a shift in the weather – albeit slight – that signals seasonal change.
My windows are open. Fresh air fills our home.
Today is shaping up to be a perfect day:
- Started the day with a yoga session before breakfast
- Watched an episode of Dark Winds, a Southwestern Noir from George R.R. Martin and Robert Redford with my husband
- Outlined my work calendar for the next two weeks making note of in-person meetings and plotting deliverables.
- Embraced a burst of energy to clean the upstairs window sills
- “Endured” best describes Duke’s participation in a much-needed shower
- Enjoyed some leftovers from our weekend menus – Mesquite-grilled Flank Steak, Blue Cheese Potato Salad, Cherry Clafouti – and some delicious tomatoes, tomatillos and zucchini compliments of our neighbors
- Learned some new vocabulary and verb conjugations on Duolingo
- Mixed up another batch of Toll House Chocolate Chip Cookie dough ready for upcoming Noodle Nights with Z
Tomorrow, we’ll be “back to” the routine, and yet I’m welcoming it with an appreciation for a glorious summer, a fun-filled holiday weekend, and a fresh outlook for the months ahead.
May you sleep well tonight. I know I will.
Tomorrow is a new week, a new season, and a new opportunity to explore, discover and growth.
