I’m going to lose 20-plus pounds this weekend, and you can, too. I did it last weekend and it was so fulfilling that I’m doing it again.
No, I’m not talking about a crazy, unhealthy fad diet. I’m talking about getting rid of physical clutter.
I started with a pile of papers, magazines, brochures, and other things that I’d been hanging onto. Some pieces I kept in hard copy, some I digitized, and others I decided to toss.
By the time I’d gone through it, the pile was so tall that I decided to weigh it before depositing the items into the recyling bin. It weighed 20 pounds, and it had taken me less than an hour to do. I felt proud, productive and lighter.
That has motivated me to keep on decluttering perhaps besting my 20-pound purge. Maybe I can do 25, 30 or even 50 pounds this weekend.
I’m convinced that even two minutes(!) of decluttering will make a difference just as two minutes of cardio can have a small, cumulative impact.
