Menopause isn’t just a topic for women of a certain age—it’s relevant for young women, middle-aged women, menopausal women, post-menopausal women, AND men of all ages and stages.
Not that long ago, no one spoke publicly about menopause. Lately, however, it’s been showing up everywhere.
When I started Two Minutes Du Jour, menopause wasn’t on my list of topics; however, while writing for other posts, I discovered an abundance of good sources to share.
Menopause is a human experience. Now that the topic is trending, I expect there will be more conversations about it.
Frankly, I’m glad I’m where I am on this part of my womanhood; it’s a darn good stage. Each stage has built upon itself, and I am more confident being here, knowing what I know, and having a curious outlook for the future.
No matter where you are on the path, let’s pause and talk about the pause.
Thought Starters:
Hormones are as much a part of us as our bones and organs. While I’m not a health expert, I am a consumer and avid seeker and sharer of information. Here are some thought starters and links to explore.
- Why should people of all ages know more about menopause? Understanding menopause early helps in preparation and reduces fear. It’s not just an end; it’s a transition spanning several years.
- How much time will we spend in various stages of menstruation, perimenopause, menopause, etc.? A woman might spend around 30-40 years menstruating, followed by 4-10 years in perimenopause before reaching menopause, and then many glorious years postmenopausal.
- What are the positives of menopause? Freedom from menstrual cycles, newfound energy, and opportunities for self-reinvention.
- How does mindset impact menopause? A positive outlook can change how one experiences menopause. Viewing it as a natural progression rather than a decline makes a significant difference.
